The city of Woodstock is hosting its 25th annual Christmas Jubilee and Parade of Lights on Saturday.

Preceding those events will be the Christmastime Is Here event from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday on the Woodstock Arts Event Green in downtown Woodstock or at The Mill on Etowah in Canton.

Presented by Woodstock City Church pastored by Andy Stanley, this Friday’s event will include live Christmas music, Christmas characters, face painting, yard games, letter writing to Santa and treats from local vendors.

Rain or shine, the city’s parade will begin from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road and travel down Main Street to Sam’s Club on Ga. 92.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. before, during and after the parade, food vendors will be available at The Park at City Center, 101 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock along with downtown restaurants and Ronnie the DJ.

After the parade from 6:30-9 p.m., Santa and Woodstock Mayor Donnie P. Henriques will light the 30-foot Christmas tree at The Park at City Center.

Santa will be available in the Gazebo for visits.

Free offerings will include sugar plum cupcake decorating, cookies, hot cider, hot chocolate, Kris Kringle Kidz Kraft Area, children’s activities, games and inflatables.

For $10, there will be rides on the huge bumper ball on the amphitheater green.

Parade awards will be given for Best Holiday, Most Original, History & Heritage and the People’s Choice.

Also, Preservation Woodstock will present its Citizen of the Year Award.

Through Dec. 12, Santa’s Mailbox will be at the Gazebo, where children may bring their letters to Santa and receive a personalized letter from Santa.
