In Reggie Mebane’s man cave, there’s an international array of souvenirs on display and a jazz-inspired entertaining area.

“Whenever we [travel], we always bring something back, and LaRhonda will make it fit back into the decor of the house,” Reggie says.

Pictures, figurines and other items from trips to Egypt, England, France, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, China, Africa, Asia, Thailand, Greece and Italy, just to name a few of the countries, fill the full finished basement.

Reggie, a jazz fan, has jazz-inspired pieces, such as a sculpture that is symbolic of Billie Holiday and metal sculptures of a band on the mantle in the basement.

“Everywhere I went, I tried to bring back artifacts,” said Reggie Mebane, who has traveled while working for FedEx and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The kitchen has been updated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, white cabinetry and refinished hardwood floors.

LaRhonda said she was inspired by visiting various home sites, reading home design magazines and seeing photos of stars' homes in Essence and Ebony magazines.

One bedroom, called the antique room, showcases mahogany wood furniture dating to 1890, passed down from LaRhonda's family.

"Those pieces mean a lot to me because it was passed onto my (91-year-old) dad to me. It was passed on to him from one of his grand aunts," LaRhonda said. "I'm hoping to pass this furniture onto one of the girls."

The home's light-colored walls complement the dark furniture.
