One River Place
The homeowner: Claire Edgington took one look at the condos in One River Place, which sit alongside the Chattahoochee River, and decided this was the perfect spot for her to downsize. The community's location alone stood out: just off I-285 and right inside the Perimeter. The amenities appeared luxurious to Edgington, especially the 8,000-square-foot meeting house, which has an exercise facility, concierge and activities director, coffee bar, space for private parties and other amenities. Edgington, who is from England and owns a home in Marietta, purchased a condo to rent out first and move into later (her youngest daughter heads to college next year). Edgington, an estate manager who was assisted in her purchase by Sabine Goelles with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, chose a unit that overlooks the Cochran Shoals and Palisades National Recreation areas, and she's already enjoyed walks along the Chattahoochee. She threw a party at the pool the night she purchased the place last year, and she's planning on celebrating her 50th birthday in October at the meeting house. "There have been loads of social activities (including a 'yappy hour' for dogs, cocktail hours and trunk shows)," she said. "They have all kinds of things going on that really are suitable for couples, families, singles."
