“I am writing this to you to tell you how thankful I am,” she wrote in the letter. “I know I don't always act like I am, but I am.”
Gia died Oct. 26, two days after she was shot in the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting. She was one of five students killed, including the teen gunman.
“Everybody loved her,” Gia’s aunt, Gay Soriano told The Herald of Everett. “She had a way about her that touched people.”

“Our daughter was loving and kind and this gift honors her life,” a statement from Gia’s family said the night she died at Providence Regional Medical Center. “We thank providence for their excellent care, bar none, from beginning to end. We thank our friends and family who have supported us through this.”
