When Scott Schuman launched his now famous blog TheSartorialist.com in 2005, he just wanted to post pictures of what real people were wearing. It was, he said, an attempt to address the disconnect between what appeared on the runways in the world's fashion capitals and what people were wearing in everyday life. One book, thousands of photos, and millions of followers later, Schuman, a self-taught photographer, is hailed as a photo blogging pioneer.

On Monday, Schuman arrives in Atlanta to kick-off SCAD Style 2011, the annual celebration of style and design featuring artists, designers and other industry professionals in a series of free public lectures.

Joining Schuman throughout the week are other fashion notables including Waris Ahluwalia, the jewelry designer behind House of Waris, known for its fine handcrafted pieces from India.

The program also includes a discussion hosted by executive directors of the Jacqueline Susann archive, literary agent Ira Silverberg and Cameron Silver, owner of Decades, the noted vintage boutique in Los Angeles – to honor the 45th anniversary of Jacqueline Susann's cult classic novel "Valley of the Dolls." The discussion will focus on the book's fashion impact and attendees will have the chance to see a behind-the-scenes documentary on the writing of the book in 1966 and the making of the film which followed in 1967.

An exhibition showcasing Susann's personal style features garments from the author's own collection as well as fashions and designs that defined the culture of the 1960s.
