Costumes from 2010 movies on display

Select movie wardrobes from are on display at FIDM in LA.

Select movie costumes are on display at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising Museum and Gallery in LA. Several Oscar-nominated wardrobes are part of the nearly 100-piece collection.

Whimsical wardrobe pieces from "Alice in Wonderland," including Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter hat, are also part of the exhibit, displaying costumes from 20 select movies in 2010.

While Mary Zophes' costumes for "True Grit" look as though they could be original to the period, each was made new and then cosmetically aged to fit the film's look.

Costumes from "The Tempest," based on Shakespeare's play of the same title, were designed by Sandy Powell, who has won an Oscar for her designs in "Shakespeare in Love," among others.

Lindy Hemming's "Clash of the Titans" costumes are shown.

"Burlesque," which may be remembered more for its costumes than its storytelling, are on display as well.
