Antoine and Larry Carter weren’t house hunting in earnest when they stumbled upon a gorgeous 1908 home in the Historic West End, but they fell in love with the feel of the space and the vintage architecture.

In their elegant bathroom Larry and Antoine Carter have a vintage window seat original to their 1908 home. There were three such benches when the couple moved into their house in 2015: one in the office, one on the landing of the stairwell and one in the original master bedroom that the Carters moved into their bathroom. A luxurious bath sits right off of Larry and Antoine Carter’s bedroom in their Historic West End home. Original hardwoods and an original fireplace set a vintage tone matched by the clawfoot bathtub in the center of the space, but two bright white vanities from Overstock.com and a chic chandelier give the room more contemporary touches. The guest house in the backyard of Antoine and Larry Carter’s home was constructed in 2018. The couple knew that they wanted to add a garage to their property, and after looking at carriage houses around their neighborhood, they decided to add an apartment over the garage for extended guests. The home office of Antione and Larry Carter’s Historic West End home has gotten a lot more use since both of them have been working from home over the past year. Charcoal paint from RH gives the room a touch of serious elegance that pairs well with the chandelier from Lowes. The TV room is where Antoine and Larry Carter spend most of their down time with each other. A gray sectional and pillows from Overstock.com makes for a great place to sit for a movie or to unwind at the end of the day. Larry and Antoine Carter purchased their 1908 home in 2015. The kitchen was the first room that Larry and Antoine Carter renovated when they purchased their Historic West End home in 2015. Brandy Morrison of Morrison Design, LLC was their architect. They reworked the entire space, rearranging the layout and installing new appliances. To achieve the most impact for their budget, Larry put up the cabinets, backsplash and vent hood himself. The living room of Larry and Antoine Carter’s 1908 home has original hardwoods, refinished in 2019. The couple created a cozy living area to entertain in, splitting a sectional sofa from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and adding two wingback chairs that they had refinished at Fabric Joint to create a seating area. Larry and Antoine Carter’s most recent home renovation project is the outdoor living area in their backyard, which they worked with architect Brandy Morrison of Morrison Design, LLC to create. The wall is covered in faux greenery, giving the space a feeling of stylish, tamed nature. The porch swing in this space is the swing that hung on the front porch when the Carters moved in in 2015, and the sign at the top of the greenery wall reads “Nolan Carter Manor,” the name that the couple affectionately gave their home after both of their original last names.
