Gwinnett Technical College is looking to add more than 60 adjunct instructors to its classrooms in Lawrenceville and Alpharetta-North Fulton.
Two hiring fairs have been scheduled in October. They will from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20 on the Lawrenceville Campus Busbee Center, Building 700, 5150 Sugarloaf Parkway, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at Alpharetta City Hall, multipurpose room, 2 Park Plaza.
The addition of the new Alpharetta-North Fulton campus, which will offer classes beginning in January, has created a need for additional faculty. These part-time instructors will teach in a wide variety of subject areas and are often top professionals in their fields.
Applicants should bring a resume or curriculum vitae, as well as copies of unofficial transcripts. Qualified applicants may be asked to participate in a 10-minute interview. Online applications must be submitted before the hiring fair.
Openings for adjunct instructors include those in business, computer science, health care, life sciences and general education classes. Applicants will be considered for classes at both campuses.
Requirements for education and experience vary by field. Occupational and general education courses require a master's degree in the discipline or a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline. Technical and adult education courses require a credential at the same level at which the faculty member is teaching – typically a bachelor's or associate degree with appropriate work experience. Developmental instructor candidates should have a bachelor's degree in the discipline being taught and experience or graduate training.
Candidates may register for one of the two hiring fairs after applying for a position:
