You may know Taylor Swift’s music word for word, but there are some little-knownĀ facts about her career that may surprise you.

1. She’s not from Nashville.

She was born on December 13, 1989, and raised in Pennsylvania.

2. She wrote her first song at age 12.Ā 

Swift says a computer repairman taught her how to play three chords on a guitar. This led to her first songwriting effort,Ā ā€œLucky You.ā€

3. Her parents moved to the South to support her music.

Her family moved to Nashville at age 14 to help Swift pursue a career in country music.

4. She made history with her first record deal.Ā 

Swift signed with Big Machine Records and became the youngest artist ever to join the Sony Music publishing house.
