Former MLB pitcher rebuilds home after fire

Fourteen months after former Atlanta Braves pitcher Mark Wohlers' house burned to the ground, fans have a chance to tour the rebuilt home, all in the name of charity.

Mark Wohlers pitched for the Atlanta Braves from 1991 to 1999.

On March 1 of last year, a fire broke out on the porch of the Wohlers' home in Milton. It spread to the roof and destroyed the entire home. Wohlers, his wife Kimberly and their four kids weren't hurt in the fire.

The family spent the last year rebuilding the home, but before they move back in, they wanted to help the community that helped them in their time of need.

The rebuilt home is this year's Roswell Women's Club Showcase Home Tour. Now through May 20, anyone interested can tour the home Wednesday-Sunday.

This is the 16th annual Showcase Home Tour by the Roswell Women's Club and proceeds from the tours benefit charities in the north Fulton area, scholarships and teacher innovations.

Six designers, including the Wohlers' personal designer, helped create a home that organizers hope will inspire, fascinate and offer ideas for those taking the tour.

There are several special events happening at the house, too. This week, there is a wine tasting and gardening event. Log on to showcasehometour.org for more info.
