The cause of death for actor Kristoff St. John has been revealed by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
TMZ reported that the coroner’s office listed hypertrophic heart disease as the cause of death. It is categorized as accidental.
St. John was found dead in his San Fernando Valley, California, home Feb. 3. He was 52 years old.
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease happens when plaque builds up in the arteries of the heart, making it difficult for it to pump blood to the rest of the body.
St. John was best known for his role as Neil Winters on the long-running daytime soap opera “The Young & the Restless.” He had been on the show since 1991 and won numerous Daytime Emmys and NAACP Image Awards for the part.
