Adele hasn’t directly commented on her split from her husband, Simon Konecki, but she’s hinted that this past year wasn’t the best.

E! News reported that the singer posted throwback photos on Instagram from her New Year's Eve party on her 31st birthday Sunday, and reflected on the last year.

“This is 31...thank (expletive) god. 30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” she wrote. “No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.”

Weeks earlier, Adele's representatives confirmed that she separated from Konecki, the father of her 6-year-old son, Angelo.

"Adele and her partner have separated," representatives Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh said in an emailed statement to The Associated Press. "They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."

Adele is looking forward to the next year now that she’s learned and continues to learn to love herself.

“Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough,” she wrote. “I’ll learn to love you lot eventually.”

Teasing new music, the singer hinted that her new album may be influenced by her marriage.

“30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you,” she said, referencing the next album.

People reported that Adele is known for naming her albums after the age during which she recorded them or was most inspired by the material on them. Her first album, "19," was released in 2008 and named for the year she began recording the record.

"I was 20 when '19' came out. I was 23 when '21' came out," she said in a 2015 interview ahead of the release of her third album, "25."

“I think this will be my last age one,” she said. “I’m sure I’m wrong with this, but I feel there’s been a massive change in me in the last couple of years.”
