Three members of the Atlanta Association of Health Care Recruiters (AAHCR) were honored at the fourth annual ajcjobs 2014 Outstanding Recruiters Awards on June 3. About 75 people attended the event at Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina, which marked National Healthcare Recruiters Recognition Day. 42 healthcare recruiters from across the metro area were nominated for the ajcjobs 2014 Outstanding Recruiter Awards. The top honorees were Jamila Leavell of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Zac Rhinesmith of WellStar Health System, and Teal Edmeade of Northside Hospital.

Leavell, who was nominated by Lee Alexander, was cited for keeping time-to-fill low and volunteering her time with the association. “She consistently maintains a time-to-fill below 30 days each month and has grown into an outstanding recruiter and strategic business partner for our Allied Health areas of the organization. Because Jamila always jumps in where she sees a need, she has been very instrumental in making all of our AAHCR events a huge success this year,” the nomination read.

Rhinesmith was nominated by Amanda Cochran for his diligence in staffing the new WellStar Paulding Hospital. “When recruitment began for the new facility, we started with about 100 new positions. We were able to open the new WellStar Paulding Hospital on time with nearly all positions filled,” Cochran wrote.

Edmeade, who was nominated by Kelly Piccininni, was cited for her leadership, managing a large requisition load, and hiring without the use of third parties. “Teal manages a very heavy requisition load and supports ALL of our Women’s Services Team. Northside Hospital is the largest Labor and Delivery in the nation so this is NOT an easy task. She successfully hired enough nurses in L&D to avoid using agency staff during our peak census season.”
