Georgia Tech is teaming up with Verizon Wireless to develop wearable Internet-based devices, telematics and enhancements to the LTE network, among other projects.

Jonathan LeCompte, president of Verizon Wireless’ Georgia/Alabama Region, said the partnership will allow Verizon “to take wireless technology out of the phone and integrate it into new areas such as transportation, healthcare, green energy, education, wearable computing, and much more.”

Verizon will support Tech’s 2015 Convergence Innovation Competition for students, who will compete by coming up with advancements for mobility.
