Tens of thousands of delivery drivers and seasonal helpers will be working into the evening on Christmas Eve to make sure customers get their gifts in time.

It’s a crucial time for Sandy Springs-based UPS to restore and polish its reputation after last year’s holiday season, when some customers didn’t get their packages until after Christmas and the company got hit with complaints.

So far this year, “it has gone well,” said UPS spokeswoman Susan Rosenberg. “Everything we’ve put into place has worked well…. There always can be the occasional exception,” she added, saying customers should track their packages on ups.com.

“We’ve got a lot of packages to deliver today, and that’s what’s being done,” Rosenberg said. “We just appreciate the patience from people that deliveries could go into the evening.”
