UPS, which has been on an expansionary push in Asia, has named the former ambassador to China to its board of directors.

Clark “Sandy” T. Randt Jr., 64, was the longest-serving ambassador to China. A graduate of Yale University, he was a fraternity brother to President George W. Bush, who appointed Randt to the China post.

With the appointment of Randt, UPS’s board has grown to 11 members.

Randt received his law degree from University of Michigan. He now heads Randt & Co., a firm that advises companies with interests in China. Randt, who lives in Hong Kong, speaks Mandarin.
