The Transportation Security Administration is now allowing active duty military members a chance at expedited airport security screening at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces can have their common access cards scanned at a TSA PreCheck lane at the main security checkpoint at Hartsfield-Jackson, where they may qualify for expedited screening and be able to keep on their shoes, jackets and belts. Military members do not have to be in uniform to qualify for the “trusted traveler” type program.
PreCheck is already available for active duty military at the Charlotte, Honolulu, Seattle-Tacoma, Washington Reagan and Washington Dulles airports.
TSA launched the PreCheck program in Atlanta last year for some of Delta’s most frequent fliers, as well as members of other U.S. Customs and Border Protection trusted traveler programs like Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS. The agency has since moved PreCheck from the South security checkpoint to the main security checkpoint at Hartsfield-Jackson.
Certain passengers of Alaska, American, United and US Airways are also eligible for the program.
