Tropical Smoothie Café expands breakfast menu

Tropical Smoothie Café will offer a new breakfast menu, including hot sandwiches and flatbreads, as well as the Triple Berry Oat Smoothie. The Florida-based company has 285 restaurants in 34 states and expansion plans for more than 325 locations by the end of 2011.

"We want to be top of mind for our guests looking to reenergize dull morning routines, while offering the same quality and flavorful experience they expect for lunch and dinner," said Jim Valentino, president and chief operating officer. The breakfast menu items will be served all day.

Over the past five years, breakfast has accounted for 60 percent of the restaurant industry's growth, according to The NPD Group, a research firm. Numerous restaurant companies are adjusting their menus and marketing to accommodate that trend.
