Transcend Services, an Atlanta provider of medical transcription and clinical documentation services to the health care industry, has been sold for $300 million to Nuance Communications of Massachusetts.

Transcend will continue to provide services in the small to mid-sized hospital market as a subsidiary of Nuance, the companies said.

Transcend reported 2011 revenues of $125 million.
