Shares in the parent of State Bank & Trust Co. will be listed starting Thursday on the NASDAQ stock exchange, the company said Wednesday.

Atlanta-based State Bank Financial Corp.’s stock will be listed under the ticker symbol “STBZ.”

“This marks a major milestone in the brief history of State Bank Financial Corporation,” company Chairman and CEO Joe Evans said in a news release.

Evans and investors acquired State Bank in 2009 and used it as a vehicle to acquire the six-bank subsidiaries of the failed Security Bank Corp. of Macon. The company has since acquired four other failed Georgia lenders, growing in the process to $2.83 billion in assets as of the end of 2010, according to the company.
