Holiday travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport will notice a new photography exhibit in the domestic terminal atrium — an array of platinum portraits of Southern blues musicians.

The exhibit by the Music Maker Relief Foundation shows blues artists including Ironing Board Sam, Sharon Jones and Taj Mahal. The Music Maker Relief Foundation is a charity that aims to preserve Southern culture by giving financial assistance to American roots musicians in need.

Eddie Tigner, one of the musicians supported by the Music Maker Relief Foundation and featured in the exhibit, is an 89-year-old keyboard player and singer who performs at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack on Piedmont Road.

He has been performing professionally since 1947.

“It started from there. I kept playing,” said Tigner. “My mother, she was a pianist, so I guess I got it from her.”

The exhibit featuring Tigner and other Southern blues musicians will be in the Atlanta airport atrium from Nov. 20 through Jan. 20.
