Atlanta-based Newell Rubbermaid has named Juan R. Figuereo as chief financial officer.

Figuereo, 54, a former Wal-Mart and PepsiCo executive, will start next week at the company.

Much of his work has been overseas. With Wal-Mart, for example, he was responsible for sales gains in China and for launching the company in five Central American countries.

Figuero, who was most recently executive vice president and CFO of Cott Corp., replaces J. Patrick Robinson, who recently announced plans to take early retirement.

Trained originally as an accountant, Figuereo is a native of the Dominican Republic and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
