Dan Amos, chief executive officer of Columbus, Ga.-based Aflac, was ranked the second largest wealth creator in 2010 by Chief Executive magazine. It is the magazine’s third year ranking CEOs based on the shareholder return.
Priceline.com’s Jeff Boyd was ranked first, Federated Investors’ J. Christopher Donahue was third, Apple’s Steve Jobs was fourth and Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos was fifth.
Amos had been ranked 23rd in 2009.
Other CEOs with Atlanta ties included Equifax’s Richard Smith at 188, Southern Company’s David Ratcliffe at 198, Home Depot’s Frank Blake at 199, Newell Rubbermaid’s Mark Ketchum at 221, Invesco’s Martin Flanagan at 271, Coca-Cola Enterprises’ John Brock at 283 and SunTrust’s James Wells at 325.
Chief Executive magazine reported that the top 50 CEOs delivered an average total shareholder return of 73.3 percent since June 2007.
