HNI Corp. will close a Lithia Springs office furniture distribution center and transfer some of the work to a Cedartown facility, about an hour northwest, the company announced Thursday.

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Lithia Springs center will close by the end of March. The company did not say how many people are employed at the facility, which is operated by a third-party logistics company. No one from HNI Corp. returned messages left at the company headquarters Thursday evening.

Earlier documents show HNI leases 585,000 square feet in Lithia Springs to warehouse office furniture.

To make room for the additional distribution that will be moved from Lithia Springs to Cedartown, HNI will move some of its office furniture manufacturing to a facility in Iowa, where the company is headquartered.
