Georgia’s jobless rate rose to 8.6 percent in June, up from 8.3 percent in May, state officials said this morning.

That rate, which is down from 9.1 percent a year ago, rose last month because of job losses among education workers and new graduates, said State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler.
