Nov 23, 2010

Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is joining Delta Air Lines' SkyTeam alliance, the carriers announced Tuesday.

Garuda has signed an agreement to join SkyTeam in 2012, a move that will expand the reach of the global airline alliance in Southeast Asia.

SkyTeam is "actively working to grow its presence in the region," according to Atlanta-based Delta. Garuda will add destinations to the SkyTeam network, including Surabaya in East Java and Medan in North Sumatra, SkyTeam said.
