Home price increases slowing, Case-Shiller says
Atlanta home prices rose 0.4 percent in August, tying for the fifth-fastest pace among the nation’s 20 largest metropolitan areas, according to a closely-watched report issued Tuesday morning.
The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index reported that the average price for re-sales of Atlanta’s homes was up 5.3 percent for the past 12 months, putting the region a little below the middle of the pack among the large metros.
Miami, with a 10.5 percent increase, had the fastest growth over the year. Only one other metro area was in double digits: Las Vegas, with a 10.1 percent rise.
The price increases for most areas have been slightly smaller each of the past few months, according to Case-Shiller.
Atlanta’s increase in August was slightly less than the 0.5 percent increase in July.
The national average was up 0.6 percent in July and just 0.2 percent in August, Case-Shiller reported.
