Home Depot has nominated the CEO of Staples and a former business school dean to its board.

Ronald L. Sargent, the Staples CEO, has "extensive global retail and leadership experience," Home Depot lead director and chair of the board's nominating and corporate governance committee Bonnie G. Hill said in a statement. Sargent has led Staples since 2002, and became its chairman in 2005.

In addition to other roles at Staples, Sargent, 55,  held a variety of positions at The Kroger Co.

Home Depot also nominated J. Frank Brown, 54, who just completed his term as dean of the international business school INSEAD, which has campuses in France, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.

Brown will become the managing director of global growth equity firm General Atlantic LLC in June. He previously spent 26 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he most recently led the $3.5 billion Advisory Services operating unit.

Those elections will be held at Home Depot's annual meeting June 2. The company also announced that David H. Batchelder, 61, had decided not to stand for re-election.

Batchelder, founder and principal of Relational Investors LLC, had been a Home Depot director since 2007.
