The Home Depot broke ground Wednesday on a 1 million square foot annex to its Locust Grove Direct Fulfillment Center, the company said.

The facility will house bulky items that consumers can buy online but aren’t found in the Atlanta chain’s stores in great supply, such as vanities, flooring and patio furniture.

Home Depot opened the Direct Fulfillment Center in 2014 to service online orders, both those that are shipped directly to homes and those sent to stores for customer pick up. That building covers 1.1 million square feet and at peak times employs about 500 people.

About 40 workers from the Fulfillment Center will move over to the annex building, the company said.
