Help for homeowners June 1-2

By Christopher Quinn
May 23, 2012

Mortgage servicers and local nonprofit housing counseling agencies will offer free help to homeowners in danger of losing their house next week.

The yearly event will be at the Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2.

Lenders and the nonprofits hope to find alternatives to foreclosures for struggling homeowners. It will be a first-come, first-served event, and homeowners should bring mortgage documents, income documents and hardship letters. A full list can be found at www.MakingHomeAffordable.gov. The event is sponsored by HOPE NOW, a consortium of lenders, servicers and nonprofits, and the federal Making Home Affordable program.
