Greenway Health, a Carrollton-based health care information technology firm, said Tuesday it plans to expand its business with a new innovation center in Cobb County near the new Atlanta Braves stadium.

Greenway plans to create about 150 jobs at its new development center in the Galleria area, plus additional jobs elsewhere in metro Atlanta, Robin Hackney, chief marketing officer at Greenway, said during a news conference at the Midtown Atlanta offices of the state Department of Economic Development.

The total job creation number will be about 200 in the region, she said. The jobs in Cobb will range from entry level to senior software development roles. The jobs were described as high-paying, but an average salary was not disclosed.

The Greenway announcement is one of the larger jobs expansion announcements to come in the area of the new Braves stadium since the team announced its plans to move to Cobb last year. The stadium and first phase of a $400 million mixed-use entertainment district is slated to open in 2017.

Telecommunications company Vonage recently located about 400 workers in an office building that formerly housed technology workers for Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Enterprises. Greenway chose the Galleria 300 building.

Brooks Mathis, who leads economic development efforts for the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, said the new mixed-use development surrounding the future SunTrust Park was a key element in the recruitment of Greenway.

“They wanted a place to attract young people and the energy of what’s going to happen (at the Braves site) is going to make (Greenway) attractive to the talent they want,” Mathis said.

No discretionary grants from the state were included in the company’s expansion plans, state officials said, however Greenway is eligible for certain tax credits for job creation. Tax credits for the 150 tech jobs could total more than $900,000 over five years. Depending on pay, that number could rise.
