Haverty Furniture Companies is spending $2.4 million to update its metro Atlanta showrooms, with plans to redesign showrooms in other states, as well.

The Atlanta company is updating its visual merchandising and display program with new, brighter colors and signs. In a statement, Havertys president and CEO Clarence Smith said the new layout is more informative and engaging.

The design incorporates customer reviews and product ratings.

The last of the changes at 10 metro Atlanta stores is expected to be completed in early 2012. The new design will be rolled out to most of Havertys 118 locations by early 2013.

Havertys operates in 17 states.
