Hartsfield-Jackson International officials unveiled a draft of plans for future expansion through 2031, including the replacement of the airport’s aging parking garages and eventually, potential additional concourses and a sixth runway.

Airport officials discussed their draft master plan at an Atlanta city council transportation committee meeting Wednesday, adding that they will continue work on it in coming months. That will include more detailed analysis, a public meeting and cost estimates for major projects.

The blueprint for expansion also includes plans for additional cargo buildings, an “end-around” taxiway to ease aircraft movements around the airfield and an extension of the “Plane Train” automated people mover.
