Gov. Nathan Deal said Georgia will open another trade office in Shandong province, the Georgia Department of Economic Development confirmed Wednesday night.

Deal made the announcement in Beijing.

Deal is on a six-day, five-city trip through South Korea and China this week, seeking an investment and jobs boost for Georgia's beleaguered economy. In Beijing, Deal met with the governors of Shandong and Hunan provinces.

The Shandong province is on China's east coast.

No decision has been made for when the office will open, according to a spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

With the new addition, Georgia will have 11 international offices, two in China.

Georgia opened a trade office in Beijing in 2008 as part of a trade mission with then-Gov. Sonny Perdue. The trade office, which was years in the making, put Georgia in the ranks of what at the time were 28 other states and U.S. cities with similar offices in the People's Republic of China. Now, 30 U.S. states have offices in China.

China has the world's No. 2 economy. Georgia is a top-five state for Chinese investment in terms of buildings, equipment and salaries.
