Georgia craft beer: brewery sprouts in north Fulton, more on way

By Matt Kempner
Oct 20, 2015

Three guys from Roswell who started with home beer-making kits are building a permanent location for a commercial craft brewery, another example of the industry’s boom in Georgia.

How many more of these things will pop up? Apparently bunches, even as the owners of two beer giants, Budweiser and Miller Lite, prepare to combine.

Brian Borngesser, a 35-year-old commercial insurance broker, is teaming up with two buddies — one a lawyer and the other a lumber logistics specialist — to build Gate City Brewing Company in downtown Roswell. For nearly a year they've rented space at another brewery to produce beer that ends up on tap in restaurants and shops no farther out than Marietta and Alpharetta.

Check out why so many little breweries are opening and how they are complicating the once simple task of ordering a beer, in my latest Unofficial Business column on myAJC.com.
