Four companies are competing to open a hair salon/barbershop at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Proposals were due this week from those who want to offer hair cutting services in the Atlanta airport’s domestic terminal atrium. The companies that threw their hats in the ring are Atlanta-based University Barbershop, Lawrenceville’s Fadeologist barbershop, The Barber Shop Atlanta of Decatur’s North DeKalb Mall, and JCL Air LLC including Jakki Dee of Jakki Colours in Buckhead.

It’s not the first time Hartsfield-Jackson officials have attempted to offer a barbershop or hair salon at the airport. Several years ago the airport had planned to open a Jakki Colours hair salon, but it never opened. And last year, airport officials launched efforts to open a barbershop, attracting six proposals. But now, the airport is rejiggering the concept to offer both barbershop and hair salon services in the airport atrium location.
