While it always pays to persevere, some times of year are not the best for the job searcher, according to Atlanta recruiters.

Particularly in Atlanta, with its numerous top-notch colleges, late spring and early summer are not great times to search for work says Chan Cheatham, talent acquisition services manager for Payroll Services.
"Of course there is some variation in different industries, but for the most part, that's the time competition is off the charts," she said. "It's not just that a lot of those graduates have fantastic grades and great in-school experiences. It's that every single one of them is looking for a position, and in Atlanta, that's a lot of people."
Cheatham favors early September to early November job searches in the Atlanta area, since by then most college grads from the year before have landed and won't be competing as heavily.
Kathy Malkowski, senior corporate recruiter for LocumTenens.com, a full-service physician and healthcare agency, notes that the traditional advice not to seek work during the holiday season holds true only to an extent.
"It is a strong and competitive job market right now for all levels of job seekers," said Malkowski. "As a result, there may not be a worst season to look for a new job opportunity. We have been strongly hiring throughout 2016 and are planning to do the same for 2017."
You will experience some more difficulty seeking work over the holiday season, she says. "Looking for a job during the holidays can be more challenging at some organizations due to annual budget meetings and holiday and vacation schedules, but we are still strongly moving forward with hiring during the holiday season and into 2017."
In any case, notes Malkowski, "It is an exciting time to be a job seeker in Atlanta if you have the right skill set."
