The Atlanta Fire Department is using a $5.6 million grant from Homeland Security to help hire new firefighters. The department has a deficit of about 150 firefighters and would also like to increase its coverage of high-density areas of the city, such as Buckhead, downtown and Midtown.
The work is difficult yet rewarding, and you'll need to be able to complete a physical ability test, a written aptitude test, have an acceptable driving history and criminal, financial and character background, among other requirements. Want to help keep your community safe? The Atlanta Police Department is looking to hire new officers and is even gauging interest for job fairs in other states. Atlanta recruiting events will be held throughout May at Public Safety Headquarters, 226 Peachtree St. SW. Dress in business attire, but also bring athletic clothes for the agility test. Plan to be there for a couple of hours.
Carestream Dental is conducting on-site interviews on May 24 for people who have excellent technical abilities and customer service skills. The company is expanding its service team, which provides telephone support for its software and equipment that's used by dentists and other dental professionals. The career fair will be held from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on May 24 at Carestream Dental's Atlanta office at 1765 The Exchange.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta is hiring nearly 100 people to fill positions in guest experience, retail, food and beverage, janitorial and admissions. You'll need to have an enthusiastic personality, and previous customer service experience is a plus.
A job fair will be held May 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at LEGOLAND at Phipps Plaza, 3500 Peachtree Road NE. Apply in advance here.

Medline, which manufactures health-care products, is hiring experienced machine operators, mechanical and electrical technicians and production supervisors in May. Positions are available for day or night and are on a four-day rotating schedule. If you're interested in applying, you can attend a recruitment fair on May 9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn on 110 Interstate West Parkway in Lithia Springs. Dress in business casual and bring your resume.
