What you do: Assist the fire marshal by reviewing and analyzing complex construction documents related to commercial, industrial and residential projects, recommend coding changes to resolve problems, provide customer service and attend local meetings relating to fire and building safety.
What you need: A bachelor's degree in one of many construction-related fields, ICC or NFPA certification as a plans examiner, and in-depth knowledge of construction methods and fire safety regulations.
