How to become a physician assistant in Georgia

The Georgia Dept. of Labor (GDOL) analyzed several careers, and found that physician assistant (PA) is the hottest job, and is expected to grow 67.9 percent by 2022.

With an average annual salary of $97,360 in metro Atlanta, PAs perform services including diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance and pharmaceutical prescription, according to PhysicianAssistantEDU.org.

While the career can be a rewarding one, the road to becoming a PA can be intense.

How to become a physician assistant in Georgia

1. Graduate from an accredited PA program: In order to have a license approved by the Georgia Composite Medical Board, applicants must complete a two- or three-year PA program that combines classroom instruction and clinical experience.
