There's a small but growing movement by some big businesses to change the way they do employee performance reviews. Some are de-emphasizing traditional annual reviews and are even (hold your breath) dumping rating systems that can determine who gets a pay raise and who gets fired.

The surprising thing is who's behind the change.

It's not whiny employees.
