For the 11th consecutive year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and AJCjobs is honoring and celebrating nurses throughout metro Atlanta and Georgia.

Again this year, from hundreds of nominations, an independent panel of judges has chosen 10 extraordinary nursing professionals to represent thousands of their colleagues at the annual Nursing Excellence Awards.

Held during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, this year’s luncheon was on May 10 at Cobb Galleria.

Sarah Juhasz from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston was among the honorees who went above and beyond the call of duty to make a significant impact on their patients.

Juhasz was nominated by Kayla Wilson, the mother of one of her patients, who in part, wrote: “In a simple act of kindness so small, an everyday thing that most of us would take for granted, a haircut, this nurse let a little girl forget she was sick for just a little while. Sarah made her feel like she was Queen on the mountain. It is for this action and kindness to my daughter Marlie that I would like to nominate Sarah Juhasz for the AJCjobs Nursing Excellence Award. In my eyes, she is more than deserving of this honor and recognition of her wonderful and excellent hard work."
