A British firm that uses wood pellets to generate electrical power said Tuesday it plans to put its U.S. headquarters in Sandy Springs and create or relocate 50 jobs over the next five years.

Drax Biomass, a unit of Selby, England-based energy conglomerate Drax Group, will locate its offices in the Concourse office complex, home of the King and Queen buildings.The company, which has been based in Massachusetts, has wood pellet manufacturing and shipping operations in Louisiana and Mississippi, according to the company’s website.

State economic development and Drax officials said in a news release that the company will have job openings corporate finance, engineering and legal positions in its metro Atlanta office.
