R.R. Donnelley & Sons will close its printing facility in East Point next month, and most of the plant’s more than 100 employees will lose their jobs.

The move is the latest in a string of closures for the Chicago-based company. R.R. Donnelley already has announced plants would shut down in several states, including Colorado, Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin, according to various media reports.

Next month’s closure will affect 114 jobs, according to a spokesman with the Georgia Department of Labor.

In a letter to the Labor Department, a company official cited “changing market conditions” for the planned July 23 plant closure. A message left with an R.R. Donnelley spokesman was not immediately returned.

About 40 non-union positions will be made available at the company’s Chamblee facility, and East Point workers can apply, though they will not be guaranteed positions, said Dale Harrell, president of Local 8-M chapter of the Graphics Communications Conference, a Teamsters union.

Internet advertising and publishing has wreaked havoc on the U.S. printing industry, said Harrell, whose union represented East Point workers.

Harrell said the East Point plant has a roster of clients, including AT&T and Home Depot. Work will be shifted to other sites. The plant opened on North Commerce Drive in East Point in 2005, relocated from the former Williams Printing facility in Midtown.
