If developers have their way, Miami will be known for shopping just as much as it is for its beaches and nightlife .
American Dream Miami is backed by the owner of the current largest mall in the U.S., Minnesota’s Mall of America. The group wants to build a 200-acre shopping and entertainment complex in Miami at a price tag of approximately $4 billion.
The location of the massive project would be at the intersection of Florida's Turnpike and Interstate 75, according to the Miami Herald. The vacant land is seen as attractive for business prospects because it is bordered by two busy highways.
The American Dream Miami proposal would include an amusement park, a water park, a skating rink and an indoor ski slope. Unique features would include a live sea-lion show and a lake that would offer submarine rides.
The venture would bring 25,000 new jobs to the region.
