Delta Air Lines has suspended its service between Atlanta and Brussels until March 2017 in the wake of the terrorist attacks at the airport there last month.
In an announcement Saturday, Delta said it would continue to resume service between New York-JFK and Brussels once the Brussels airport allows clearance for international flights.
Delta, in a statement, said it decided on the move “due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the re-opening of Brussels airport and weakening demand.”
“Customers affected by the schedule change will be re-accommodated on alternative Delta services or flights operated by joint venture partners Air France and KLM.”
Flights have been grounded at Brussels since the airport was targeted March 22 in terrorist attacks. It is expected to open with tighter security Sunday on a limited basis (about 20 percent of its capacity), but it could be months until it opens to complete service, according to a BBC report.
