The pilots union at Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said its negotiating committee has reached a tentative agreement with the company on a new labor contract, more than six months early.

The next step is for the leadership of the Air Line Pilots Association at Delta to vote on the deal. If the union’s master executive council approves the deal, it will go to pilots for a vote.

The deal comes after a year of preparation and negotiations, the union said, but declined to release details of the agreement. The current Delta pilots labor contract struck in 2012 runs through Dec. 31, 2015.
