Pinnacle Airlines, a Delta Connection carrier, announced Monday it reached a deal with its pilots union and struck an agreement with Delta to add 40 large regional jets to the Pinnacle fleet.
Delta announced earlier this month it will buy 40 new 76-seat CRJ-900s from Bombardier Aerospace. Those CRJ-900s will join Pinnacle’s fleet.
Memphis-based Pinnacle said it will add the aircraft between fall 2013 and the end of 2014 for a total fleet of 81 CRJ-900s. It plans to remove 140 smaller CRJ-200 regional jets from its fleet over the next two to three years.
Members of the pilots union, the Air Line Pilots Association at Pinnacle, will vote in January on their tentative labor agreement, which is also subject to approval by the bankruptcy court. Pinnacle filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year.
