Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises on Tuesday announced three executive management appointments.
Sandy Schwartz was appointed president of Manheim, the world's largest provider of vehicle remarketing services.
Doug Franklin was named president of Cox Media Group, succeeding Schwartz. CMG is the unit of Cox Enterprises that includes The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Alex Taylor, who serves as vice president, Cox Media Group Ohio, will succeed Franklin as executive vice president of Cox Media Group.
Schwartz and Franklin will report to Jimmy Hayes, president and chief executive officer of Cox Enterprises.
Schwartz, who has been with Cox since 1985, follows Dean Eisner, who has announced his retirement.
"Sandy's extensive automotive, online and media experience is a valuable asset to Cox Enterprises," Hayes said.
Franklin will manage CMG, an integrated broadcasting, publishing and digital media subsidiary. CMG operates 15 broadcast TV stations, 86 radio stations, eight daily newspapers, more than a dozen nondaily publications, more than 100 digital services and Cox Reps.
Besides The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, its Atlanta properties include WSB-TV, AM 750 and now 95.5 FM News Talk WSB, Kiss 104.1, B98.5 FM and 97.1 The River. CMG also owns Mundo Hispánico and Padres & Hijos, as well as Valpak, a leading direct-marketing company.
Franklin, who joined Cox more than 30 years ago, had served as executive vice president of CMG. He oversaw radio, television and digital operations. Previously, he served as publisher of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Palm Beach Post. He also served as president and CEO of Cox Ohio Publishing and as publisher of the Dayton Daily News.
"Doug is a seasoned veteran with a great understanding of our CMG properties and a great vision for their future," Hayes said. "He has played a major role in the integration and transformation of our media businesses, and I am confident in his ability to lead them to continued success."
Taylor led media integration efforts in Dayton. He previously served as publisher of The Palm Beach Post and The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colo., and as vice president and general manager of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
