“Beyond the Basics,” a seminar and equipment fair, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Holiday Inn Perimeter (4386 Chamblee Dunwoody Road). Sponsored by Mobility Designs, the event is for physical and occupational therapists and will feature updates on policy, legislation, research and how they affect seating and wheeled mobility. The guest speaker will be Bob Lujano, a recreational and Paralympic athlete who appeared in “Murderball,” the 2005 Oscar-nominated movie about quad rugby. There will also be a display of the latest equipment in the field. Five contact hours are available. A CEN (certified emergency nurse) exam review class, sponsored by the Emergency Nurses Association Chapter 458, will be at the Peachtree City Library (201 Willow Bend Road). The event will be open to all registered nurses. The instructor will be Jeff Sohleim. The cost is $225 and includes a review manual and a CE certificate. The “Emory Diabetes Educator Certificate Course at Grady” will be at the Emory Faculty Office Building (49 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive in Atlanta). This seminar is open to nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers and others interested in the management and education of people with diabetes. The course is open to students preparing to take their licensure examination. Professionals preparing to take the certified diabetes educator exam will find the course helpful. Time is allocated for observations in the clinical setting with members of health care teams. Attendees must have a degree or diploma in a health profession. The Case Management Society of America Atlanta Chapter Educational Conference will be at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. The theme for the conference will be “Changes in Health Care: Beyond the Horizon.” The keynote speaker will be CMSA President Nancy Skinner. CE credits will be available. The cost of online preconference registration (until Sept. 29) is $99 for members and $129 for nonmembers. On-site registration is $175.
